What. Is. Happening??!!!!!!!

I know, I dropped off the blogging scene, but this entry is sharing some exciting news!

I took the time to finish my associate degrees.

Yes, degrees. We aren’t done yet as we transitioned into why I’ll be around more often and sharing more views, ideas, reviews and everything in between.

When I first started this blog, video component was always the goal. I wanted to figure out a way to SHOW you the reviews, recipes, outings and everything that came with my mom world. I’ll admit, I’m a creative but the tech side was never my biggest strength. I looked at YouTube as my main component but the tech part was…….a lot. Especially while I was knee deep in theatre shows and coursework.

After a certain point the blog took a back seat as I tried to not only figure out how to do video on this blog, but who could help me. That was another issue. You have to admit when you can go solo and when you need a team. Filming needs a team, doesn’t matter if it’s a short film, or major production.

We graduated, and of course their was drama with that, but that another day to talk about. As I left one school, I knew, I wanted to film. I wanted to act in front of a camera and it morphed into directing and producing.

Enter Twitch,

Child 2 as we know is a gamer but also an animation major. They stumbled upon this medium during the lockdown period, and decided “there is something to this”. It’s been three years, and they built a community of gamers and artists in their space. Paid livestreaming/producing her own content. I’m so proud of her. Between her and one of my besties, they turned me to this medium. I was very curious……

Why does that matter in this blog?

I began to ask questions.

Was twitch just for gaming? Could I livestream a cooking show?

You see where I’m going right……….While I was wondering this, I started at my new school that’s deep in Los Angeles, and this degree is focused on television, directing, producing/distribution (television production). One of the biggest lessons I’ve found in this journey is longevity is knowing you can’t just be one thing. That even though they’ll tell you being an actor at any age is possible, but to truly have a career you add skills, and build your empire. While I’m getting into the groove of changing mediums, I see a class listed “Livestreaming/Podcasting”.

Wait a hot damn minute.

Are you telling me I can take a class on this, and it goes towards my associates degree? Then I can use my blog as my project for this class? Oh, speak to me! What do I need to do? In most cases, you have to pass one of two classes for the program. Multi camera production or live television directing. Ironically, you need BOTH to earn this degree. I know you have to take one to take that class, so lets just get it done, right?

Last semester(fall semester 2025) we tried and had to pull back due to health reasons, and that’s ok. We aren’t 25 anymore, we are 44. Focused but seasoned in a new space and finding your footing. Now, we are in this semester and I got into majority of the classes I had planned. I saw the livestream class being offered, but I knew ‘it wasn’t my turn yet’. We must go in order of the rules, right?

So I thought…..

My professor who teaches a lot of the television classes reached out to a lot of us saying “Hey! I’m looking for students who may be interested in taking this class! Don’t worry about the prerequisite, we can override that issue. Let me know if your interested”. The way my plus sized, arthritic self ran to my email and said sign me up, I would put roadrunner to shame.

It was been a blast to combine my social media skills into this project, and when I pitched this for a podcast and livestream idea it was so exciting. We have been in this space for 12 years, but to FINALLY expand this idea in different spaces of media was always the dream and goal. Tasty Tuesday can now be a stream on Twitch! Parental subjects can be a podcast, sometimes a solo episode or sometimes with a guest/panel!

Here we are. As I write and publish this, I have reached out to my cousin for my theme music for the podcast, and another producer for livestream intro/ad break/outro music. I had my pitch of the channel, which was approved, and given feedback. I loved the fact the feed back was tech issues, and I’m in this class to learn how to do CORRECTLY. Some folks can do this based around watching you tube videos.

I’m not one of those people. In most cases I can self teach, but this a keep it 100 space. When it means SO MUCH to me, I’m humble enough to say “teach me the correct way in the moment how to do this”. Age brings that lesson with a slice of humble pie. I’m cool with it though.
